welcome
S&B Bell Farms in Hodgenville, KY started out with a purely functional purpose: to make good use of land that we own. Over the months, the concept of alpaca farming has branched out to several other areas of farming. In order to run a sustaining farm, we realized that we needed to consider the interconnectedness of the land and the animals, and to provide the best environment that we can for both.

Annabelle was so confused by their new look - and she had to inspect each one of *her* babies very closely to be sure they were ok!!
This isn’t the first time we’ve loaded everyone up and taken them to an alternate location for shearing - but Annabelle really had a hard time being left behind this year. She takes such amazing care of our entire farm, but the alpacas are definitely *hers* and she makes sure we all remember that 🐾❤️

It's too bad Annabelle couldn't understand what had happened to her babies. And that she wouldn't be permanently left behind. A reminder of the limits of life without language. How did Annabelle express distress at being left behind?
They all look so different after shearing! I bet they are feeling great not having all that wool as the temps warm up.
It was a perfect morning for alpaca shearing 🤩 ... See MoreSee Less

oh my! poor guy 😂🩷
I thought it was fake for a second. 🤣 I had to re-read it & zoom in on the picture. 🤣
We both took off work today to prep for the alpaca shearing - which kicks off tomorrow morning at 7am 😳
Because of the uncertainty of the weather, we decided to play it safe and just move everyone up to the big barn so they will be dry for the big event.
Boys moved, no problem ✅
Girls moved, no problem ✅
However - they definitely aren’t fans of their temporary neighbors!! You should have seen everyone jump the first time they heard a very loud moooooooooooooo
I think they all share my thought that cows are big and scary 🐄. (These are not our cows)
