welcome

S&B Bell Farms in Hodgenville, KY started out with a purely functional purpose: to make good use of land that we own. Over the months, the concept of alpaca farming has branched out to several other areas of farming. In order to run a sustaining farm, we realized that we needed to consider the interconnectedness of the land and the animals, and to provide the best environment that we can for both.

Happy Earth Day 🌎

Between the lambing jugs in the sheep barn, we have a very high shelf where we keep an extra square bale of the “really good hay.”

Our lambing season is pretty well wrapped up at this point, so the hay isn’t disturbed anymore. Some of our hens have decided this is a perfect place to lay eggs, so it’s in the rotation every day to check.

Did I mention the hay is on a very high shelf?! I have to step up on concrete blocks and even then I can’t see - I just feel for the eggs.

My terrified scream was very real when instead of grabbing an egg, I grabbed this girl’s head!!! You can tell she wasn’t amused either 🤣🤣🤣

(Delicious farm fresh eggs available at our booth at the Hardin County Farmers' Market tomorrow 🥚🍳

If the hay is on a high shelf that you can't see, did you just raise your camera at it and hope for the best when you took this picture? Her head is perfectly centered.

At least it wasn’t a snake!

She saying “Excuse me, this is my spot!”

Routine physical this morning (for me) - and as the nurse was putting on the blood pressure cuff she was caught off guard at the many bruises and scrapes.

Me: I’m fine, I promise. I was wrestling with a goat the other day.

Nurse: 😳

Me: …

Nurse: ……

Me: I won! 🤷‍♀️

As a fellow goat owner my response would have been “makes sense” and wouldn’t have skipped a beat. 😆

I imagine you were quite the discussion in the break room, 🤣🏋‍♀️🐐

So you took this long after sunset? I would never have guessed from a still! Wish I could see video of the lightning flashing!
